News has emerged today of the sad passing of Mariam Nabatanzi, a woman who made headlines across the globe for her astonishingly large family. At the age of just 43, Nabatanzi was the mother to an incredible 44 children, including six pairs of twins, four sets of triplets, and three sets of quadruplets. Regrettably, six of her children had previously passed away.

While the cause of Nabatanzi’s death is currently unknown, her life story is a testament to her strength and resilience. Born in Uganda, she was married off at the tender age of 12 and had her first set of twins a year later.
