A fatal motor vehicle accident has occurred in Clermont County, resulting in the loss of one life and leaving another person severely injured. The unfortunate incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when a car veered off the road and collided with a tree.
Car Crash Details
Authorities were alerted to the accident around 4:34 p.m., with State Troopers from the Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol swiftly responding to the scene. According to initial investigations, a 2014 Cadillac ATS, while travelling westbound on State Route 125, lost control. The vehicle subsequently hit a roadside sign, a curb, before finally crashing into a tree.
Victims of the Accident
Two men, both occupants of the car, were critically injured in the crash. Emergency response teams from UC Air Care rushed to the scene, transporting the injured men to UC Medical Center. One of the victims, passenger Phillip Smith, 57, from Bethel, sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away in the hospital. The driver, Felix Smith, is currently in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
