In a horrifying development from Greater Noida, a 24-year-old cab driver was allegedly stoned to death amidst a violent altercation during a friendly cricket match. The incident took place on Sunday in Chipiyana, a locality that falls under the jurisdiction of the Bisrakh Police station, an area known for its bustling community life.
Tragedy Strikes in the Heart of Uttar Pradesh
Police reports suggest that the victim, identified as Sumit Singh, was a resident of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. Singh had relocated to Greater Noida West, residing in a rented flat in the Sai Upvan Society, while he pursued his livelihood as a cab driver.
Friends Turn Foes in a Deadly Game
The accused, named Himanshu, Tinku, and Anshu, allegedly launched a brutal attack on Singh using stones and bricks. “Following a heated argument during the game, Himanshu and his associates assaulted Sumit, who attempted to escape by running towards a drain but tragically fell into it. The assailants continued to attack him, leading to his immediate death,” stated Hridesh Katheriya, ADCP, Central Noida.
Police Investigation Underway
While the accused are yet to be apprehended, police officials have formed teams to arrest them. Several individuals have been detained for questioning to uncover the motive behind this gruesome act. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under Section 302 (Murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Himanshu, Tinku, Anshu, and other unidentified persons at the Bisrakh police station. The case continues to unfold, casting a somber shadow over the community of Greater Noida.
