In a heartbreaking incident that has left a profound mark on the Western Kentucky University community, a promising student and passionate fisherman, Johnathan Brian, tragically lost his life in a boat accident at Lake Murray, South Carolina. The 21-year-old was a proud member of the WKU Bass Fishing Team and was preparing for the Lake Murray Bassmaster College fishing tournament when the mishap occurred.

Johnathan Brian was one of the occupants in a boat that crashed on January 25, according to Laura Kneece, coroner of Newberry County. Sadly, the young angler succumbed to his injuries at Prisma Health Richland hospital early Tuesday morning. The accident is believed to have taken place during a practice run ahead of the prestigious bass fishing tournament.
