British Student Pilot Killed in Spain Plane Crash

A British student pilot and a Spanish instructor have died in a plane crash in Spain. The 26-year-old student and 24-year-old instructor were flying in a light aircraft when it crashed in a national park in the province of Almeria. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The crash happened in the early hours of Wednesday, just after midnight. The pilot, identified as 24-year-old Rafael Ricote, worked as an instructor at an aviation school in Malaga. The two had taken off from Velez-Malaga and were heading towards Valencia when the incident took place. They had made a stop at Almeria Airport to refuel before continuing their journey.

The bodies of the two individuals were recovered from the wreckage by Civil Guard mountain rescue experts. The police and civil aviation accident investigators have launched separate investigations to determine the cause of the crash.

No mayday calls were received before the accident, and the exact circumstances leading to the crash are yet to be determined. Emergency responders were alerted after contact was lost with the aircraft. Firefighters, police forces, coastguards, civil protection workers, and other responders were involved in the search and recovery operations.

The passenger’s identity has not been disclosed at this time. The regional government-run emergency response coordination center confirmed the tragic incident and expressed condolences to the families of the victims.
